Craney, Irene E. TROY Irene Perry Craney, 92, of the Eddy Beechwood, died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Eddy Heritage House. Born in Churubusco, she was the daughter of the late Treffley Perry and Edna Woods Perry and wife of the late Joseph P. Craney, who died in 1999. They were married 56 years. Raised on a farm in Churubusco, she was always proud of being a farmer's daughter. After graduating from Chateaugay High School, she moved to Troy. She trained to be a nurse and worked at the St. Joseph's Maternity Hospital, Troy. In 1942, she married Joseph Craney and spent the next 20 years raising her four children. In 1962, she reentered the workforce as a clerk for the New York State Department of Labor, retiring as senior clerk in 1983. She lived in Troy until the early 1980s then moved to Glenmont. In 2011, she moved to Beechwood where she made many close friends. Irene was a woman of faith, who treasured her family, her friends and religious community. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs over the years. She also loved crossword puzzles and looked forward to starting her day by doing the one in the paper each morning. But by far, the most important thing in her life was her family, her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Survivors include her four children, Gerry Ann Grasso (Larry) of Troy, Paul Craney (Margie) of Houston, Kathy Lennon (Donald) of Yarmouth, Maine and Peter Craney (Ann) of Houston; nine grandchildren, Kris Reynolds, Dawn Megyeri (John), Michelle Bevevino (John), Christopher Craney, Trevor Craney (Debbie), Owen Lennon (Katie), Geoffrey Lennon (Erica), James Grasso and Jason Grasso; 14 great-grandchildren, C.J., Angelica, Dylan and Quinn Reynolds, Colin Spataro, Imre, Perrie Rose, Jula and Ava Megyeri, Nia Rowe, Alyssa and Isabella Bevevino, Marissa and Heather Craney; one great-great-granddaughter, Raena Spataro, several nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by two sisters, Emma Trembly and Geraldine Fitzgerald, and three brothers, Wesley, Lionel and Peter Perry. Funeral services will be 8:45 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
