Romand, James P. RIO RANCHO, N.M. James P. Romand, 82, formerly of Rensselaer, died peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2012 in the loving care of cherished friends Janice and George Stark and hospice. Born in Albany, James was the son of the late Catherine and Joseph A. Romand. He is a Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) graduate. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Jim's career spanned to age 80 and included work in the printing industry and security detail at the Leo W. O'Brien Federal Building, Albany, and Immigration and Naturalization Service in Albuquerque. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, target shooting, fishing and balloon festivals. He was fond of long walks and time spent with his German shepherd, Sergeant Major, and friends who shared his love of dogs. While he thrived on solitude, he made friends easily, known for his sense of humor, mischief and generous spirit. He loved every debate and game he won often played by his own rules. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his loyal, loving siblings, Charles A., Joseph D., Betty LaQue and his brother-in-law, Don. Survivors include his children, James, Michael, Cathy and Dan, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was brother-in-law to Martha and Margaret. He was the proud uncle of Donald LaQue, and Charles, James, Joseph, and Denise Romand. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Rio Rancho on October 1. The rite of committal service and interment are scheduled at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, Tuesday, October 9, at 11 a.m.
