Austin, James R. PITTSTOWN James R. Austin, 60, of Carpenter Road died suddenly Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Robert E. Austin and Joan Lawton Austin and beloved husband of Diane Angus Austin of John-sonville. Raised and educated in Pittstown, he was a graduate of Tamarac High School. Jim was a supervisor with AAA Hudson Valley in Albany, recently retiring after 20 years. He previously worked for Wahl Appraisal Service, Marshall's Auto Body Shop and Hickey Ford all in Troy. He was Past Fire Chief and Member of Pittstown Volunteer Fire Dept., Past Chief and Member of Brunswick Fire Company #1, Charter and Life Member of Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps, Rensselaer County Fire Battalion Coordinator, Member Rensselaer County Fire Advisory Board, Member Rensselaer County Battalion 2 Fire Chief's Association and Member of Rensselaer County Fire Chief's Association. Jim enjoyed spending time with his soul mate Diane, his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved working around yard at his home, collecting antiques, NASCAR racing and traveling with Diane, Bob and Sandy. Survivors in addition to his wife Diane; include his children, Stephen Austin (Jennifer), Jennifer Cardin (Greg), Brian Austin; stepchildren, Angie Hathaway (Bill), Cathy Blaauboer (Matthew), Mark Balistreri (Lisa) and the late Geno St. Andrew; 13 grandchildren, Joshua, Michelle, Andrew, Joey, Aidan, Wyatt, Logan, Jesse, Miranda, Madeline, Daniel, Lyndsay, Jessica, a sister Susan Devito (Peter), two brothers Bob Austin (Sandy), Donald Austin and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps, 60 Parker School Road, Johnsonville, NY 12094. Calling hours will be held Friday 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Squad. Cremation will take place at the Gardner Earl Crematorium.
