Hostig, Joan A. (Herring) WATERFORD Joan A. (Herring) Hostig, 79, passed peacefully away on Monday, February 25, 2013. Joan was the beloved wife for 57 years of the late Joseph M. Hostig, Sr., who died on November 17, 2012. She was the loving mother of Judith A. (Gerard) Johnson of Phoenixville, Pa. and Joseph M. Hostig, Jr. of Waterford, N.Y.; the most proud grandmother of Meghan Elizabeth and Sarah Catherine Johnson and David Joseph and Jonathan William Hostig; the dear twin sister of Jean Herring Klinkbeil of Rexford, N.Y.; the dear sister-in-law of Libby Hostig of Waterford; the beloved friend of Anne Weglarz of Columbia, Mo. and loving aunt to several nieces and nephews. The daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Devine Herring, Joan was born in Troy on March 10, 1933. She was educated at St. Peter's School in Troy and was a 1951 graduate of Catholic Central High School. Joan was employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Troy from 1951 until 1957 and later worked for more than 30 years with her husband Joe at B&J Auto Supply in Waterford from where she retired in 2002. In her retirement years, Joan enjoyed the times spent with family and friends. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Crescent, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 86 Church Hill Road, Crescent. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford. To honor the memory of Joan A.
