Fiore, John M. M.D. BRUNSWICK Dr. John M. Fiore, 88, of Moonlawn Road, beloved husband of 34 years of Elizabeth P. "Liz" O'Keefe Fiore of Brunswick, entered into eternal life on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after taking ill at home. Born and educated in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Michael and Rose DiOrio Fiore and was predeceased by his first wife, Christine Henderson Fiore. He was educated at several medical schools throughout the United States and graduated from the University of Vermont School of Medicine. Dr. Fiore served in the U.S. Army, during both World War II and the Korean War and received the Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal for his service during World War II. He retired after 25 years of service at the Stratton Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albany as chief of administrative medicine. He also had a private practice in internal medicine in Troy and held patents on several medical devices. Dr. Fiore was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church and was very proud of his Italian heritage. He supported the efforts of the Italian community and was a member of the American Italian Museum, National Italian-American Foundation and the Sons of Italy. He loved to travel and made several trips to Italy in the company of his loving family. Beloved husband of 34 years to Elizabeth "Liz" of Brunswick; devoted father of Jean (John) Colaneri of Pittstown, Joanne (Rocco) Loccisano of Brunswick, Paul Fiore of Clifton Park, and John P. (Jane) Fiore of Columbia, Mo.; brother of Virginia Fiore of Brooklyn and the late Anthony, Leonard, Thomas and Jean Fiore; cherished grandfather, "Pop," of John S. (Emily) Fiore, Sara, Laura and Mary Colaneri, Joshua V. and Elizabeth Loccisano; also survived by several nieces and nephews. His family will always miss his kind heart, generosity, and dedication. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, (corner of North Lake Avenue and Marshland Court) in Troy by the Rev. Randall P. Patterson, Pastor. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., in Troy on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Entombment with military honors will be held at St. Agnes Chapel Community Mausoleum, Menands. In lieu of flowers, the family desires that memorial contributions be made to the University of Vermont, School of Medicine, Burlington, VT 05405, in memory of Dr. John M. Fiore. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., Troy.
