TROY, N.Y. Julia Romeo Baris, 75, died Thursday, March 23, 2006 after a brief illness. Born in Watervliet, she was daughter of the late John and Julia Pasinella Romeo, and the loving wife of the late Anthony Baris, a native of Utica. Raised an educated in the Watervliet and Troy areas, she was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Russell Sage College in Troy. After marriage, Julia and her husband resided in the Utica and Liverpool areas where they stayed for 29 years and raised their six children. She lived in Troy for the past 20 years. Until her retirement in 2001, Julia was the owner and president of Weighing & Systems Technologies, with offices in Syracuse and Troy. She was an avid bridge player, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, and taking trips to area casinos. She was also a communicant of Sacred Heart Church were she was active in their prayer group. Most importantly, she was a proud nana, spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. Survivors include her five children, three sons, John M. Baris (Betty) of Liverpool, Anthony S. Baris of Liverpool, Paul M. Baris (Darlene) of Houston, Texas and two daughters, Julie Ann Jensen (Randy) of Troy and Maria A. Baris of Liverpool. Julia is also survived by her brother, Jerry Romeo (Shirley) of Ballston Lake; a sister, Anne M. Hotte of Troy; and 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Julia was predeceased by her eldest son, Michael Baris; a brother, John J. Romeo; and her sister, Grace T. Donohue. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Troy, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Pine Plains Cemetery of Liverpool, N.Y.
