Cooney, Kay Rita (LaBoissiere) NOKOMIS, Fla. Kay Rita (LaBoissiere) Cooney, 72, passed peacefully at her daughter's home, surrounded by loving family on February 8, 2013. Born in Troy on September 12, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John and Rita (Pafundi) LaBois-siere. Kate graduated from Catholic Central High School. After retiring at age 55 from the NY State Department of Health, she moved to Sarasota, Fla. to be closer to her daughter and her new young family. Katie was a proud and devoted grandmother. She loved reading, puzzles, board and dice games. Katie is survived by cherished and devoted daughter, Barbara (Cooney) Perry of Nokomis, Fla. and loving sons, Mark Cooney of Venice, Fla. and Bob Cooney of Cohoes; long-time companion and friend, Joe Giampa of Va.; former wife of Robert Cooney of Cohoes; grandmother to Crystal Tribley of Bradenton, Fla., Kelly Cooney of Cohoes and Huck, Sawyer and Nash Figlow of Nokomis, Fla.; great-grandmother to Jayci, Jayden and Jasmine Tribley of Bradenton, Fla.; her brothers and sisters, Lt. Col. David (Sawako) LaBoissiere of Fredericksburg, Va., the late Vincent (Carol) LaBoissiere of Watervliet, John (Lisa) LaBois-siere of Loudonville, Ruth (late, John) Doane and Paul (Linda) LaBoissiere both of Watervliet, Michael (Jill) LaBoissiere of Scotia and Missy (Jim) Martin of Troy and many nieces and nephews (whom she loved like her own). Her life-time friends (and families) also are acknowledged: the late Joseph and Josie Matthews of Watervliet, Maureen (late, Bill) Dunn of Delray Beach, Fla. and Mary Lou (late, Howard) Cooke of Latham, as is her son-in-law, Joe Perry of North Port, Fla. The family would like to thank Tidewell Hospice for the loving care and support given to Katie and her family in their time of need.
