Zalar, Loretta STILLWATER Loretta J. Zalar returned to the Lord on January 4, 2013. Loretta was born an only child in New Martinsville, W.Va., on May 3, 1934. Having lost her dad as a young teen, Loretta graduated high school and helped support her mother by working as a hostess at the "Brown Derby." She later met and married a young sailor and traveled the country as a devoted military wife and homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Louis, who lovingly cared for her at home throughout her illness. She is also survived by her five children, Allan Johnson of Saratoga Springs, Marla and husband, Bob Jeffery, of Stillwater, Eric and wife, Kelly Johnson of Middle Falls, Dominic and wife, Holly Zalar of Stillwater, and Vickie Ronda and husband Joe Pyska of Clifton Park. She was the best "Gram" and "Mom" to her nine grandchildren, Sheri, Shawn, Erica (Ben), Kayla (Ray), Michael, Victoria, Louis, Jesse and Jenna. She was also a great-grandmother to Paige and McKenzie. Her love for her family and their well being was always her primary concern, even in her final days. Her continued generosity, commitment and devotion to all those she loved was unlike any other. She was a steadfast servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ throughout her many years. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Ave., Mechanicville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
