Meader, Lyle D. III SCHOHARIE Lyle D. Meader III, 79, of Larry Hill Road, passed away at home on November 28, 2012, after a long and courageous struggle with multiple system atrophy and Parkinson's disease. Born in Schen-ectady on February 25, 1933, he was a son of the late Lyle D. Meader Jr. and Conna Baker Meader. Lyle was educated in the Schenectady school system and was a 1950 graduate of Nott Terrace High School. He worked at General Electric prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served two years with the 68th Signal Company, Infantry Division. He married his beloved wife of 46 years, Margaret F. Gallup, on July 21, 1956. She passed away on April 11, 2003. For many years he and his wife operated the Lyle D. Meader Plumbing, Heating & Electrical Contractor business out of their home in the hamlet of Quaker Street. He was well known for his sense of humor and work integrity. In his spare time he remodeled their house in Quaker Street. In later years he remodeled his current home and farm buildings in the Town of Wright, Schoharie. He always wanted to be working doing something for others or for his family. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and motorcycling with family and friends. He loved "working in the wood" cutting and splitting many cord of firewood over many decades. He last operated the lever on his hydraulic splitter in October, the one last piece of work he could accomplish. Lyle was a past chief of the Quaker Street Volunteer Fire Department, a former member of the Duanesburg Zoning Board of Appeals, and a member of the NRA. He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Martha R. Meader and Ted Klarsfeld of Voorheesville, and Lyla R. Meader and David Hodgdon of Morristown, N.J.; and one granddaughter, MacKenzie Meader Klarsfeld of Voorheesville. He is also survived by a sister, Lyla A. Meader of Schenectady, and many nieces and nephews, including Conna Meader and her son, Lyle Kersh, of Albuquerque, N.M. In addition to his wife Marge, he was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Meader Greene, and a brother, Michael B. Meader. Family and friends are invited to call at the White-Van Buren Funeral Home, 1779 Main St., Delanson on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 3 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Alexander Road, Delanson. Interment will follow in Gallupville Rural Cemetery, Gallupville. Memorial donations maybe made in Lyle's memory to the City Mission of Schenectady, PO Box 760, Schenectady, NY 12301, Schoharie Recovery, PO Box 111, Schoharie, NY 12157, or the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820.
