Bedell, Margaret "Peggy" NASSAU Margaret "Peggy" Bedell, 85, of Nassau, died Monday, March 4, 2013 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Margaret was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Hunter. She was a 1946 graduate of Columbia High School and became a homemaker for her family for her whole life. She assisted with the family business, "Boomers Performance," and was a devoted race fan attending tracks all over the Eastern United States and Canada with her home track being Lebanon Valley Speedway. She was an active life member for more than 40 years and Hall of Fame inductee of the New York State Stock Car Association (NYSSCA). Peggy was also a lifetime member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church of Schodack. Predeceased by her son, Robert "Boomer" Bedell; brother, Robert Hunter and sister, Helen Shafer. Margaret is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Walter H. Bedell Sr.; a daughter, Margaret Ann Bedell of Nassau; and two sons, Walter D. (Diane) Bedell of High Falls, and Brian K. (Michele Walter) Bedell of Nassau. She also survived by seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013 from the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc., 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family has requested that those who wish make memorial contributions in her name to the St. Stephen's Church, P.O. Box 213, East Schodack, NY 12063.
