TROY Margaret M. (Peggy) Banten, 71, of Ingalls Avenue, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Memorial Hospital, Albany, after a long illness. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Harold Banten and Margaret Heffernan Banten McCabe. A Troy resident most of her life, she was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, class of 1951. Peggy worked for the former Cluett-Peabody & Co. in Troy for more than 35 years. She later worked for Albany Memorial Hospital in the purchasing department. She retired in 1994. She was a retired member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America and a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Troy. She always enjoyed traveling and caring for her family at home. Survivors include three sisters, Patricia Mitola (Al) of Troy, Dora Strode (John) of Tenn. and Jean Bayly (Blake) of Fla.; a brother, Richard Banten of Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Marion Bestle Hood. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Saturday from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 109th St. and Third Ave., Lansingburgh and at 9:30 in St. Patrick's Church, Troy.
