DeLair Kennedy, Marie TROY Marie Sabina Maier DeLair Kennedy, age 91, beloved wife of the late Robert M. Kennedy and Milton N. DeLair, died on Monday, January 7, 2013 at her residence in Diamond Ridge surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Louise Schollhorn Maier. She was a graduate of St. Lawrence Elementary School and Catholic Central High School, Class of 1938, both in Troy. She was a homemaker for many years and worked for 15 years for the United States Post Office, retiring as postmaster in Petersburgh in 1989. Marie was a charter member of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill, past president and member of the church's Rosary Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister at the church, past director and member of Germania Hall in Lansingburgh, a 4H Leader and a volunteer for the Little Sisters of the Poor. Survivors include her children, Paul (Carolanne) DeLair of Wynantskill, Mary Louise (Richard) Herrick of Troy, John DeLair of Colonie and Joan (James) Carra of East Greenbush; her stepchildren, Dr. Brian (Madeline) Kennedy and Catherine (John) Marschilok, both of Troy and John (Dr. Gloria) Kennedy of Syracuse; six grandchildren; nine step grandchildren three great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen (the late Tony) Thomas of Grafton; her brothers, Paul (Janet) Maier of Vero Beach, Fla. and Ernie (the late Peggy) Maier of Averill Park; her sister-in-law, Helen Maier of Lansingburgh and her special nephew, Karl (Sandy) Yager of Wynantskill. She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Yager and Dorothy Marschilok and her brother, Anthony "Andy" Maier. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be from the Thomas S. Connolly Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill on Friday at 8:15 a.m. and at 9 a.m. from St. Jude the Apostle Church, Wynantskill where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Jean's Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations to the St. Jude the Apostle Church Memorial Fund, 43 Brookside Ave., Wynantskill, NY 12198; Germania Hall, 309 3rd Ave., Troy, NY 12182 and/or Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 in memory of Marie would be appreciated.
