Merges, Paul J. Jr. ALBANY Paul J. Merges, Jr., age 45, died tragically on November 24, 2012 when his bike was struck by a truck. Paul was the son of Dr. Paul and Barbara (Carney) Merges. He is also survived by his two children, Sean Anthony and Keara Mary; his brother, Eugene Hughes Merges (Maureen) of Yonkers; their children, Patrick, Bridget, Christopher, and Matthew; his other brother Brian Clark Merges (Julie) of Los Angeles, their children Abigail, Conor, and Quinn; and Paul's ex-wife, Kristiana, in addition to his uncles/aunts, Bruce (Barbara), Richard (Penny), Robert (JoAnn), and Frank (Renee) and many cousins. Paul was predeceased by our very close family friend, Bishop Joseph W. Estabrook. Born April 25, 1967 in Albany, Paul graduated from St Pius X School in Loudonville, and Christian Brothers Academy (Class of 1985). He also attended St. Bonaventure University. He worked for New York State almost twenty years at Education and Tax & Finance Departments. Paul was a good son, brother, and father. He enjoyed boating and skiing, and he was an avid fan of the Yankees and Notre Dame. Funeral services, Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany, thence to St Pius X Church, 23 Crumitte Rd., Loudonville, when at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
