Dahlin, Purcell F. BROOKSVILLE, Fla. Purcell F. Dahlin, 86, of Brooksville passed away April 2, 2012. He was born December 7, 1925 in Schenectady. Purcell enlisted in the Navy and served three years during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he graduated from Albany Business College and married Eleanor Jensen of Schenectady in 1952. Purcell worked for the state tax department for more than 40 years, retiring in 1984 as manager of the sales tax compliance bureau in Albany. He was a graduate of the Hernando County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office Citizens Academy in 2003, also taught the AARP safe driving course for senior citizens for many years. Purcell was past president of the Sylvan Grove Association's board of directors. He was a communicant of St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Masaryktown, Fla. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Eleanor; sisters, Judith A. Pagois of Rotterdam, and Jean M. Gallo of Schenectady; one brother, Robert P. Dahlin of Schenectady; two daughters, Susan Myren of Gansevoort and Mary Ann Bennice of Albany; a son, Mark, and his wife, Beverly of Gansevoort; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 9, 2012 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Masaryktown, Fla. A memorial service in Schenectady will be planned at a later date.
