Van Pelt, Robert J. ALBANY Robert J. Van Pelt, 60, died suddenly, Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his beloved camp on Crooked Lake. Born in Kansas City, Kan., he is the son of William George (late Thelma) and Arlene Van Pelt. Bob grew up in Chatham, N.Y., graduated from Troy High School and the Junior College of Albany. He worked in the food service industry for 45 years, most recently, 28 years with Ginsberg's Foods of Hudson. Bob enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Crooked Lake, swimming, going for long walks and waterskiing with his buddies. He loved the beach, especially at Ocean City, Md. and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Bob was known to be a devoted husband, father, grandfather, as well as an uncle, brother, friend and son to his loving family. He was a true inspiration to become a better person, appreciated life to its fullest, gave without question, and loved unconditionally. He was a great man who left a big mark in the world especially to the ones who knew him the closest. His legacy of what life is about will be carried on; love to the fullest. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Dawn Baldes Van Pelt; children, Tiffany (Dave) Ainsworth, Rob Van Pelt (Sam); his brothers, Bill (Kim) Van Pelt, Dan (Kathy) Van Pelt, Rich (Kim) Van Pelt, Don (Kathryn) Carrier, Ray (Steve) Carrier; and sister, Lisa (Tony) Marrano; his adoring grandchildren, Elise, Colin and Sydney; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to the American , Northeastern Region, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Upstate NY Chapter, 5 Computer Drive, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12205.
