We were privledged to know Bob as the guy who read, swam and punned every day on the beach at Baker's Pond. His love for Barbara, his kids and grandkids was transparent. His love of science shot through beach conversations before and after his swims. His love of teaching engaged other people's kids while relaxing in the shade kicking around "what if's" with big ideas. People don't come any better than this guy. His enthusiasm for life on the planet was contagious. Bob will be sorely missed by his friends on the little pond. Our hearts go out to his family for the loss of this beloved man.

Bob was a good friend of very long standing, starting when we were graduate students together at Harvard, and continuing for many years at General Electric. He was a fine scientist and a great person, and will be sorely missed.
