Huerter, Robert W. BALLSTON LAKE Robert W. Huerter, 77, of Ballston Lake, passed away, Friday, February 10, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Kingston, N.Y., on April 28, 1934, son of Joseph and Ann (Wetherall) Huerter. He was predecea sed by his son, Robert W. Huerter Jr.; his brother, Joseph John; and his sister, Lilian Marie Sarro. Bob will be remembered for his undying devotion to his family and his strong support of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake athletics and Siena College basketball. He was proud to have coached his sons in football, baseball, and basketball. His love for the NY Yankees started at a young age, while growing up in Roslyn, N.Y., where he graduated high school in 1951. After his college experience, Bob worked in construction with family and married Dorothy Perreault in 1954. He ran the Shine Inn Ten Pin Bowling Alley in Chicopee, Mass. and worked as a salesman for Wilson Freight Trucking until 1967 when he moved his family to Ballston Lake as their regional VP. He then put his entrepreneurial skills to work as owner/president of Tanney's Motor Transportation, and served on the Transportation Arbitration Board before buying Audio Village stores in Saratoga and Plattsburgh. His last adventure was in commercial real estate for The Blake Group. In his retirement, Bob proudly served as chairman of the board of directors of the Clifton Park Senior Center, and as president of the Shenendehowa Investment Club. He enjoyed bowling with the Burnt Hill Seniors, serving as a Ranger at Eagle Crest Golf Club, and going on outings with the Nifty Fifty's of Our Lady of Grace Church, where he belonged for over 40 years. Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy (57 years); five loving children, Janis (Ken) Hogue of North Attleboro, Mass., William (Karen) Huerter of Halfmoon, N.Y., James (Angelique) Huerter of Slingerlands, N.Y., Karen (William) Meirs of Watertown, Mass., and Thomas (Erin) Huerter of Clifton Park, N.Y.; grandchildren, Michael, John, Jamie, Alison, Thomas, Kevin, Meghan, Jillian, Lily, Mason and Nathaniel; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. and a funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 16 at 10:30 a.m., both at Our Lady of Grace Church, 73 Midline Road., Ballston Lake, N.Y. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. Special thanks are extended to his caring nurses at The Community Hospice of Saratoga. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Bob's name may be made to either The Shenendehowa Adult Community Center, 6 Clifton Common Blvd., Clifton Park, NY, 12065, to Our Lady of Grace Church, 73 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019, or to The Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
