Schneider, Rudolf J. Jr. RENSSELAER Rudolf J. "Rudy" Schneider Jr., age 86 years, of Rensselaer passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Stratton VA Medical Center. He was born in Troy and has lived in Rensselaer for the past 60 years. Rudy was employed as a chemical technician for General Electric Silicone in Waterford. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II attaining the rank of radioman third class. He was a member of the Gerald O'Neil American Legion Post 1683 in Rensselaer, a life member of the Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Club and a member of the NRA. His proudest moment was having taken the Patriot Flight. Beloved husband of the late Helen Clark Brown Schneider; loving father of Andrea (Don) Cook, Beverly (Paul) Hughes and Debbie (Michael Sr.) Ganance all of Rensselaer; loving grandfather of Lia (Dan) Higgins, Amy (Don) Romano, Rudy Hughes, Matthew Hughes, Kristy Ganance, Nicole Ganance, Michael Ganance Jr., Alex Cook and Amanda Cook; great-grandfather of Eddie Bizzarro; son of the late Rudolf Schneider Sr. and Mary Poltl Schneider; brother of John (Ceil) Schneider of Clearwater, Fla.; brother-in-law of Eleanor (late Ralph) Brown. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and his cat, Precious. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer Friday evening at 7. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Friday prior to the service from 4-7 p.m. Interment for Rudy and his wife Helen will take place Monday morning, January 28, 2013 at 11 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
