Swartz, Shawn R. EAST SCHODACK Shawn R. Swartz, was suddenly taken from us in a tragic motorcycle accident on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the young age of 34. He leaves behind his grieving close-knit family consisting of his parents, Rodney and Darlene (Kennedy) Swartz; brothers, Shane and Shea Swartz; his sister, Shauntel Swartz; and their family dog, Sheeka. Along with his family, there were many aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends that Shawn was fortunate to have in his life. Shawn graduated from Maple Hill High School in 1996 and from Hudson Valley Community College in 1998, with a degree in civil engineering. He worked at the NYS Department of Transportation in Albany and also had his own Shawn Swartz Lawn Care business. Shawn was an avid outdoors guy who loved his snowmobiles, motorcycles, ATVs, fishing and target shooting and spending quality time with his family and friends. Shawn was an all around great family guy and a friend to all. The wake will be held at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 4-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday July 14, 2012 at Emmanuel Reformed Church (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF SERVICE LOCATION) 1150 Maple Hill Road, Castleton starting at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place immediately afterwards at Horizonview Cemetery, with a reception following afterwards at the Schodack Valley Firehouse. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Needless to say Shawn will be so sadly and deeply missed forever. Shawn was always a wonderful and amazing son, brother and friend to everyone in his life.
