Holmes, Thomas "Paddy" MILLBROOK Thomas "Paddy" Holmes, 90, of Millbrook died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his residence. Born in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland on June 14, 1923, he was the son of Edward and Elizabeth McGrath Holmes. Tom served with the British Army during World War II, Second Battalion, London Irish Rifles. On April 7, 1957 Tom, his late wife Alice and their three children emigrated to the United States and settled in the Millbrook area. He was employed by Rosedale Nurseries in Millbrook as a landscape foreman for many years and later worked for Briggs Electric, Millbrook as an electrician. Tom is survived by his three children, Patricia Susczynski and her husband Frank of Salt Point, Christine Foley and her husband Tom of Albany, and Ross Holmes and his companion Peter Fitzpatrick of Salt Point; his four grandchildren, Jamie Susczynski and his companion Lisa Lawrence of Stanfordville, Kristen Bove and her husband Michael of Salt Point, Courtney Moore and her husband John of Latham and Carey Foley and her fiance Jerid Bielawa of Sand Lake,NY; her two great- grandchildren, Noah and Kiera Bove; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Holmes of Ireland, Christina MacKenzie of Scotland, Margaret Mackintosh of Poughkeepsie and Sylvia Ross of England; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Alice, Tom was predeceased by two sisters and five brothers. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 27 at 2 p.m. from Lyall Memorial Federated Church, Maple Ave., Millbrook. Interment will follow in Nine Partners Cemetery, Millbrook. Memorial donations may be made to Millbrook Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 609, Millbrook, NY 12545 or Hospice of Dutchess Co., 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook, NY 12545.
