Salvador, Urano J. NORTH GREENBUSH Urano J. "Reynold" Salvador, age 91, years, passed away Wednesday December 26, 2012 at Van Rensselaer Manor after a short illness. He was born in Barre, Vt., where his father was a granite cutter, the son of Italian immigrants the late Domenico and Irma Vanetti Salvador. Reynold moved to Albany as a young boy and graduated from Albany High School and Siena College with a B.S. in chemistry in 1944. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, where he was a lieutenant on a destroyer escort in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Salvador was a research chemist for Sterling Winthrop Drug Co. in Rensselaer and was part of a team that developed several well-known pharmaceutical drugs. In 1952 he married Maureen Healy Salvador and they just recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed going on church retreats especially to the Auriesville Shrine. Reynold loved sports especially the New York Yankees, he also loved to read, walk, paint, fish, bowl, the outdoors, but his biggest love was to be home with his family. Husband of Maureen Healy Salvador; father of John Salvador, Joanne Salvador, Susan Salvador (husband Chuck Koffenberger) and Scot (Carol) Salvador; grandfather of Taylor and Mackenzie Koffenberger, Stephanie and Michael Salvador; brother of Richard (Carole) Salvador; uncle of Barbara and Diana. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for their professional and loving care, and also a special thank you to Reynold's neighbors who were there for him and his wife. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer Saturday morning at 10 and 11 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 667 Columbia Trpk, East Greenbush where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call the funeral home Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
