Allison, Vada I. GUILDERLAND Vada I. Allison, 95, of Guilderland passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in the comfort and privacy of her home. Born on October 24, 1918 in New Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Nancy Butler Moore. Vada was raised and educated in the Utica area, graduating from Whitesboro Central School class of 1936. In her younger years, Vada worked for Sears & Roebuck Co. in Utica where she met her future husband the late James R. Allison. They were married on February 22, 1941 for over 48 years until he passed away in 1989. Vada, with her husband James, lived in different areas of New England and New York throughout their lives until moving to the Albany area. She has lived in the Albany area for over 50 years. Vada was a 29 year member of the Albany Institute of History and Art; an active volunteer at Albany Medical Center Hospital, St. Peter's Hospital as well as various other charitable organizations in the Capital District. She enjoyed bridge, bowling and golf and was a former member of the Albany Country Club. She was also an avid Red Sox fan. In addition to her parents and her husband she was also predeceased by her step-mother, Clara Moore; a son, Ross H. Allison; two sisters, Florence Potter and Beatrice Zacaroli; and two brothers, Robert Moore and Frank Crennan. Survivors include her two children, Claire V. Allison of Utica and James M. Allison of Syracuse; a daughter-in-law, Judy Allison; eight grandchildren, Michele (Clint) Allison-Elwell, Richard Allison, Jennifer (Buddy) Anselmo, Melissa Allison, Melanie (Michael) Porcaro, and Mike, Steve (Mary Beth) and Tom Allison; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
