Famiano, Valerie (Rybak) SCHENECTADY Valerie Rybak Famiano, 91, formerly of Mason Street, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Glendale Home, with her daughter-in-law at her side. Valerie was born February 23, 1921 in Schenec-tady, a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Hiitter Rybak. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. Valerie worked at the Wallace Co. and for ALCO, before starting her career as a secretary at the R&D Center in Niskayuna, working for Dr. Benz. She was a devoted wife and mother. Valerie was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and the former Holy Cross Church. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Anthony J. Famiano on May 5, 2005; and her loving son, Peter Famiano on March 28, 2009. Valerie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Beverly Famiano, of West Orange, N.J.; and a brother, Don Derkowsky and his wife Bonnie, of Schenectady. Service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets and then to St. Anthony's Church were a Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Avenue. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Valerie's memory to St. Anthony's Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY 12305.
