Cappallo, Virginia M. ALBANY It is with great sadness that the loving children of Virginia Mary Cappallo, 91, announce the passing of their beloved mother on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, from this world into the arms of her Heavenly Father and the Blessed Mother, to whom she was so profoundly devoted. It is with great joy that we know she will now spend eternity with her husband, Willis, whom she has longed to be with for more than 22 years. Born in Isle LaMotte, Vt. on February 8, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Leah (LaBombard) Gervais. She was the beloved wife of 49 1/2 years to Willis I. Cappallo who passed away on February 7, 1990. Virginia was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Christ Our Light Church, formerly St. Frances de Sales Church, Loudonville. She attended Our Lady of Angels School and Vincentian Institute. Virginia worked for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring in 1982. Prior to her state service, she was employed by Macy's in Colonie Center, which brought her many memories and helped infuse numerous hours of discussion and laughter during her two years at the Teresian House, where she resided at the time of her death. She was a past member of the St. Francis De Sales Senior Citizens Club, Silver Streakers Senior Club, Koonz Senior Club, the RSVP Club and was also a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge 2192 Ladies Auxiliary until illness prevented her active participation. Virginia was an avid reader and had a wonderful talent with crafts, especially sewing and crocheting for which she received two ribbons at the New York State Fair. Her children and grandchildren were recipients of many beautiful and cherished handmade items. Virginia was also predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Richard Aumiller; her grandson, Ryan Aumiller; her great-grandson, Connor Low, and her brothers, Eugene and Homer Gervais. She is survived by her children, Sharyn Cappallo, of Colonie, Kevin (Linda) Cappallo, of The Villages, Fla., and Renee (Bruce) Randall, of Syracuse. She is the beloved grandmother of Richard Aumiller, Robyn Low, Donna Aumiller, Kelly Wain, Kyle Cappallo, Jenna Randall-Smith and Josh Randall, and also the beloved "GG" to her great-grandchildren, Jon, Kevin and Cameron Aumiller, Alexandra Low, Danielle Aumiller, Kelsey and Campbell Wain, and Sydney and Emery Cappallo. Virginia is survived by her brother, Lynes (Cecile) Gervais; sisters-in-law, Frances Gervais and Rose Gervais and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, with interment at Memory Gardens in Colonie. Family and friends may call Monday, August 13 at the New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie from 4 to 7 p.m. The Cappallo Family cannot find the words to adequately describe the incredibly compassionate, loving care given to Mom by the staff at the Teresian House, especially the nurses, LPNs and aides on the second floor, B-Wing, and Sister Patricia and Sister Maureen. Each and every one of you made it possible for our mother's final years to be filled with the dignity she so justly deserved. Your unconditional gift assured us that Mom was always safe and secure. You were OUR gift. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Teresian House Foundation, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203.
