LaMarre, William P. Sr. RENSSELAER William P. LaMarre Sr., born on November 27, 1922 in Troy, N.Y., died November 17, 2012. He was the son of the late Eli LaMarre and Christine Hanlon. Predecea sed by his wife, Marie (Grainer) LaMarre, Bill is survived by his seven children, Kathryn Henry; William (Donna) LaMarre Jr.; Donna (Phil) Tremblay; DJ LaMarre; Patrick LaMarre; Tricia (Barry) Smith; Chrissy (John) Myers. Loving "Pa" to 15 grandchildren, Stephanie (Paul) Henry-Ruckert; Becky and Sarah Henry; Melissa (Ken) Shriver; Lindsay (Jay) Ogden; Danielle and Rachel LaMarre; Patrick and Jeannette LaMarre; Holly Hayes; Matthew Janowski; Justin and Lauryn Smith; Josh and Kyle Myers. Also, cherished "Pa" to 10 wonderful great- grandchildren. Bill was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Army, landing on Normandy Beach Day 9 of the Invasion. Bill was a self employed mechanic, owning LaMarre's ARCO's on Washington Ave in Rensselaer for many years. Bill enjoyed many years of camping with family, especially at Alpine Lake, parties and barbecues with family and friends, bowling, snowmobiling and golf. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, trips to casinos, golfing, watching football games and his beloved Yankees. He especially loved for the past 9 years, working for the NYS Police at the Schodack Barracks. The camaraderie he developed with these troopers gave him great joy in his later life. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer Wednesday morning at 9:30 and 10:30 from St. John The Evangelist and St. Joseph Church, Herrick Street, Rensselaer where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Castleton.
