Reeves, Charles W. Jr. QUECHEE, Vt. It is with profound sadness we announce the death of our beloved and loving son, brother and uncle, Charles W. "Charlie" Reeves Jr. He died on October 1, 2009 in his second home in Frisco Woods, N.C. Charlie was born in Geneva, N.Y. in 1950 to Robyn and (the late) Bud Reeves. He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School and Paul Smith's College. For many years, he lived and worked in Lake Placid, managing restaurants and leading the ski patrol at Mt. Whitney. Charlie relocated to Vermont in 1983 where he has been employed by the Woodstock Inn as the director of the Ski School at Suicide 6 for the past 25 years. He was a true artist on skis! His friends and colleagues at the Inn and mountain were his second family. He also founded and conducted "Windfest" in Frisco, N.C. for the past 10 years. This is the premier East Coast celebration of windsurfing. He was equally at home on snow or water. It was in Frisco that he and his constant companion, Seka, an Australian Shepherd, held court for their fellow campers over the course of the summer months. Charlie was a real free spirit who was true to himself, had a generous heart and an amazing sense of humor. His family was his life. His was always the first call of the day on your birthday. Charlie is survived by his Mom, Robyn Reeves of Delmar; his siblings, David and Susan of New London, N.H., Christine and Steve Van Ullen of Cohoes, Greg and Lisa of Valatie and Janet Reeves and Barry Redmond of Delmar. His nieces and nephews were the light of his life, Greg and Will Van Ullen, Dave Stebbins and Daniel Reeves, Jillian, Claire and Alec Reeves. He was predeceased by his nephew and godson, Matthew Reeves, nephews, Dylan and Alex Reeves and his Dad, Bud Reeves. Also surviving are his longtime dear friend, Kaye Ross and his former wife, Kate Elliott Reeves, both of Vermont. We thank God for the life of Charlie Reeves! "Do what you love, love what you do!" Friends and relatives may call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of S. Thomas the Apostle, Delmar. Burial will be Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Bethel, Vermont beside his nephew and godson, Matthew Reeves.
