McGlynn, Francis John WATERVLIET Francis John McGlynn, 92, passed away in his home on February 13, 2014. He was a quiet and loving man who will be truly missed. Frank was born in Watervliet on December 29, 1921. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy. Frank was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as radio man on the USS Speed 116, and we all thank him for his service to our country. Frank married Theresa Hahn McGlynn on September 8, 1951. They were husband and wife for more than 62 years. Frank worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. Frank lived to play a round of golf. In the "offseason," he enjoyed oil painting and his home and the homes of his children and grandchildren are adorned with his beautiful paintings. Frank is survived by his wife, Theresa; his three children, Michael, Marion Lavigne, and Kathleen (married to Tom Sweetser); his four grandchildren, Kathleen (married to Mitch Mendelson), Timothy, Tierney and Devin; two great-grandchildren, Hanna and Matthew Mendelson; and his brother and sister, Jim and Mary Bevins. Frank is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, William and Raymond; and his granddaughter, Kay. The funeral will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Watervliet. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. Following cremation, Frank's ashes will be entombed on Wednesday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
