Giannakopoulos, Eva ACWORTH, Ga. Eva Aletrakis Giannakopoulos, 89, a resident of 112th Street in Lansingburgh, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 17, 2014 while on extended visit in Acworth. Born in Allegheny City (Pittsburgh) Pa., she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Maria Hatzileniko Aletrakis and wife to the late Kyriakos "Kari" Giannakopoulos, who died in 2009. She was a member of St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, Troy. Survivors include her two sons, Theodore Giannakopoulos (Leah) of Newtown, Mass., and Nicholas Giannakopoulos (Tina) of Acworth; her two grandchildren, Dimitros and Evyenia Giannakopoulos; a sister, Athanasia Vergatos of Merrick, Long Island; sisters-in-law, Garifalia Fentekes and Argiri Aletrakis, both of Troy; and brother-in-law, George Kanellis. Eva was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Aletrakis and her two sisters, Anna Valsamides and Mary Kanellis Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 10 a.m. at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, 909 River St., Troy with Fr. Emmanuel E. Mantzouris officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
