Kottage, Alexander R. Jr. EARLTON Alexander R. Kottage Jr., 83, of Earlton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2014, after a long illness. He was at home with his wife and daughters by his side. Born in Troy and raised in New Haven, Conn., Alexander served in the Air Force from 1948 to 1952. At the age of 21 he began working for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, where he held various positions, transferring to Springfield, Mass. in 1971 and retiring from Conrail as a bridge inspector in 1993. After retiring, Al and his wife toured the United States for three years before settling in Earlton, where they lived for 18 years. Alexander is predeceased by his mother, Ethel Kottage; daughter, Denise J. Kottage; stepmother, Margaret Kottage, and father, Alexander R. Kottage. He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Kottage; sister, Mary O'Connell; daughter, Beatrice L. (Joseph) Sluszka; sons, James F. Sullivan and Robert A. Kottage; daughter, Debra A. (Brian) Perrotto, and grandchildren, Sara Sluszka, Jonathan Sluszka, Sofia, Dante and Roman Perrotto. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A private funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at St. Mary's Church in Coxsackie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Alexander to St. Catherine's Center for Children, 40 N. Main Ave., Albany, NY 12203. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.C.
