Fisher, George E. Sr. RENSSELAER George E. Fisher, Sr., 85, of Rensselaer died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at home. George was born in Rensselaer and had been a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for over 30 years before retiring in 1988. George served in the Marine Corps in the Korean conflict and was a member of the American Legion Zaloga Post 1520. George was a life long NY Yankees and Notre Dame Football fan. He also enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, doing puzzles and traveling. Predeceased by his parents, George J. and Ida (Lashway) Fisher; siblings, Beulah (Joe) Sousa, Dora (Richard) Lake, Blanch (Tony) LaRoche, Irene (Hank) Lake, Ralph (Joyce) Fisher, Georgianna Fisher, Elroy (Mary) Fisher, Francis Fisher, and Margaret (Bill) Lauer. George is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Kathleen (McGraw) Fisher; devoted father of Kathleen (Eddie) VonFricken, George E. (Margaret) Fisher Jr.; proud grandfather of Matthew (Isa) Locci, Alex and Abby Fisher. He is also survived by sister-In-law, Barbara (Nicholas) Mesiti and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 from the Rockefeller Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, where a liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated. Friends and family are invited to his calling hours Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Contributions may be made in his name to either the , 3 Winners Circle, Albany, NY 12205 or the , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
