Ellis, John P. "Jack" WATERVLIET John "Jack" P. Ellis, 77, of Watervliet, passed away in Ocala, Fla. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 after a brief illness. Born to the late Walter P. Ellis, Sr. and Florence McManus in Lowell, Mass. on August 22, 1936, he was a resident of Watervliet since 1950. He is predeceased by his son, John (Jackie) P. Ellis. He is survived by daughters, Noreen Ellis of Chicago, Ill., and Kelly Ellis-Foster (John) of Old Bridge, N.J.; grandchildren, Alexander and Caitlin Ellis-Foster; brothers and sisters, Walter Ellis, Jr. (Trudy), Joanne Velton (late Ray), Virginia Ellis, Michael Ellis (Mary) and Susan Ellis; and loving companion, Donna Burger. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Walter Ellis III (Bernie), Scott Ellis (Lois), Erin Delgado (Aaron), Anthony Velten (Carmina), Meghan Ellis, Patty Grimmel (Barry), Kirsten Godwin, Kathleen Darling (Clinton) and Vincent Ellis (Laurie) as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. After attending Catholic Central High School, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. A lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, he worked for Ford Motor Company and served as Treasurer for UAW Local 930 Green Island. He was a member of American Legion Post 0927 in Green Island, Watervliet VFW Post # 729 and the Watervliet Elks Lodge #1500. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5 at 9:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Friday, April 4 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or Condolence book at
