Grestini, Hervey D. COHOES Hervey D. Grestini, 87, formerly of McDonald Towers in Cohoes, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy, embraced by his loving family.Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Matthew and Rose Marriotti Grestini, Sr. and beloved husband of the late Marjorie Ward Grestini. Hervey was a life long resident of Cohoes and attended the Cohoes Schools. He was a United States Army World War II veteran and recipient of the Army Occupation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Hervey was employed as a brick layer with various construction firms throughout the Capital District and was a member of the Bricklayers Union, Local 2 in Albany. He was a life member and past grand knight of the Cohoes Knights of Columbus, Council 192. Hervey was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed participating in the Waterford Bocce Ball League. He is survived by his devoted children, Linda (Michael Szozda) Wyrshyhora of Cohoes, Dennis (Debbie) Ward of Colonie and Charles (Terri Moon) Ward of Glens Falls; grandchildren, Brian and Deanne Wyrshyhora, Jennifer and Meghan Ward and Casey Baldwin; five great-grandchildren and niece Pamela (Robert) Bouchard. He was predeceased by grandchildren, Paul and Dana Wyrshyhora and Scott Ward; brother, Matthew Grestini, Jr.; and nephew, Joseph Grestini, III. A funeral service will be held in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Friday at 1 p.m. with Reverend James A. Ebert officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Hervey's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Eddy for the exceptional care, love and support given to Hervey while he was with them Those wishing to remember Hervey may make memorial donations to the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Ctr., 2256 Burdette Ave, Troy, NY 12180.
