McLaughlin, John J. III MECHANICVILLE John J. McLaughlin III, 65, of Knickerbocker Road, died Sunday morning, March 16, 2014 at home, following a long battle with lung disease. Born in Troy, April 19, 1948, son of the late John and Arlene Bassett McLaughlin, Jr., John had last worked for Cascade's Paper Co. in Waterford for nine years. Previously he worked for Douglas Dyer Construction Co., for a number of years. Family camping, puttering around his home and yard were things John enjoyed, along with spending family time with his loved ones. An avid NASCAR fan, John was a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. # 88, racing enthusiast. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Deborah Minor McLaughlin; his four children, Dawn McLaughlin of Hagaman, Melissa Thompson of Hudson, Rhonda McLaughlin and John J. McLaughlin, IV, both of Schaghticoke; 16 grand and two great-grandsons; two sisters, Beverly (Doug) Clum of Schaghticoke and Arlene (Howard) Gifford of Valley Falls; along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families. John was also predeceased by his sister, Verna McLaughlin. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Spring burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Calling hours at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to John's family.
