Carver, Alan Davidson HOOKSETT, N.H. Alan Davidson Carver, 84, died March 8, 2014. Born in Wycombe, Pa., the son of Walter and Marion (Sampson) Carver. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956, at North Truro AFB, Mass., on Baffin Island in Northern Canada and at Offutt AFB, Omaha, Neb. Upon discharge from U.S. Air Force, he attended Brown University, Providence, R.I., graduating Cum Laude in 1960. He then joined the Providence brokerage firm of David & David. Mr. Carver was assistant manager of the Providence office of Goodbody & Company, from 1966 until 1971, when the firm was purchased by Merrill-Lynch. In 1975, Mr. Carver, a former resident of Cranston and Barrington, R.I., moved to Albany, where he worked with the Department of Army at Watervliet Arsenal as an economist. In 1982 Mr. Carver became a program analyst at Ft. Monmouth, N.J., residing in Long Branch. Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia L. Howarth; a brother, Donald E. Carver; a sister, Ann C. Beatty; a grandson, Kyle C. Steere; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (nee Christopher) Carver in 2008.
