Schuh, Mary O. Kirby COHOES Mary O. Kirby Schuh, 83, of the Eddy Village Green and formerly of Lansingburgh, died peacefully in her sleep with her daughter by her side on Saturday, March 15, 2014. Born in Troy and raised in Watervliet by her grandparents, Reed and Ella Primmer, Mary was the daughter of the late X. Francis and Ora Kirby. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. Mary was happily married for 36 years to the late Edward Schuh, who was taken too early in 1988. Mary worked for more than 20 years at the office of George Harlow, D.D.S. After retirement, Mary volunteered with the Rensselaer County Literacy Program, helping families from China and Russia. She also was a member of the Lansingburgh Seniors Book Club and the Troy Seniors Writing Group, and enjoyed sharing her poetry with loved ones. Mary Schuh devoted her entire life to her family and befriended all who came in contact with her. Her generosity and warmth was evident to all who knew her, through her great conversations, holiday gatherings or a glass of ice tea on her much-loved side porch. Survived by her devoted daughter, Laurel Colasurdo (John Goyer); granddaughters, Vicki Charbonneau (Paul) and Chelsea Colasurdo (fiance Joseph Mazzariello); great-grandchildren, Corey, Ava and Abagaill Charbonneau; brother, Matthew Kirby (Shirley); and a brother-in-law, John W. Carswell (Helen). Predeceased by her loving sisters, Elaine Carswell and Colleen Cantrell. Mary will be missed deeply by nephews, James Carswell (Kathie), William Carswell (Ann Marie) and James Kirby; nieces, Sue Carswell, Amanda Smith (Philip), Sarah Heffernan (Walter) and Kelly Betz (Ted), and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews. Dearest friends, Gloria and Butch Waters and the Rev. James Belogi. A special thank you to the entire staff of House 21 at the Eddy Village Green for all the love, support, concern, enthusiasm and sense of humor shown to Mary and her entire family, and for making us always feel that this was her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 9 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. At her request there will be no calling hours. The interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterford for family only. There will be a reception held following the Mass in the St. Rita's Room at St. Augustine's Church to celebrate her life.
