Crewell, Alvah A. SELKIRK Alvah A. Crewell, 66, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at home after a brief illness. Al was born in New Scotland and raised in Coxsackie. He was the son of the late Elvin and Mabel Crewell. Al retired in 2010 after 23 years of service with Albany Steel in Menands. He was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Albany. Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years, Carolyn "Carly" Boomer Crewell; children, Brenda, Elvin and Christopher Crewell; sisters, Mabel (Gordon) Mosher and Flossie (Rick) Mabee; brothers, William (Lisa) Crewell and Robert (Nancy) Crewell; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his sister, Esther Taber. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, at St. Peter's Church, Albany. Interment will follow in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions in memory of Alvah may be made to St. Peter's Church, 107 State St., Albany, NY 12207.
