Lorenz, Dr. Roman R. AUDUBON, Pa. Dr. Roman R. Lorenz, age 78, husband of Dana J. (Rebmann) Lorenz of Audubon and formerly of Chester Springs, Pa., and East Greenbush, died on Thursday afternoon, April 3, 2014 at the Meadows building at Shannondell, Pa. Born in Breslau, Germany, he was a son of the late Richard and Paula (Kuehnast) Lorenz. Arriving in the United States as a young German immigrant, he proudly put himself through school, received his B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and then his M.S. and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Michigan. Roman enjoyed a long and distinguished career, working for several decades as an organic chemist for the Sterling Drug Company in Albany, and then with Eastman Kodak in Pennsylvania as director of development. Dr. Lorenz worked very hard for everything he had in life, expecting nothing without effort. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of the family that he and his wife of 53 years created and nurtured together. His greatest joys included spending time with his family, gardening, learning to fly a Cessna, traveling, and enjoying the company of his huge network of friends and colleagues for whom he deeply cared. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Peter R. Lorenz of Virginia Beach, Va.; Stephen W., husband of Melinda Lorenz, of Greenwich, Conn., and Dr. Robert R., husband of Aylin Lorenz, of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Mark, Eric, Lia, Lars and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Max Lorenz and Dr. Peter Lorenz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 1193 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, Pa., 19425, on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Douglas E. Hanson. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received both from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this Sunday evening at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, Pa., and, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. this Monday morning at the Church before the service.
