Penn, Bennett MECHANICVILLE Bennett F. "Rick" Penn, 62, of River Street, died at home, Saturday, April 5, 2014 of several health issues. Born in Hampton, Va., December 28, 1951, Rick and family moved to Mechanicville several years ago. He was"THE" friendly greeter at the Wal-Mart's store in Halfmoon for the past three years. He met everyone entering the store with a smile, and enjoyed his job. Previously, he had also worked for the company in North Carolina. Rick was a former football standout at Virginia Commonwealth University. A sports guy, Rick was a Washington Redskin football and New York Yankee baseball fan. Fishing was something he leisurely enjoyed. He also tried his hand at golf, and loved watching old movies. A people person, Rick could or would talk to anyone, and had the knack of brightening up a persons day. Survivors include his wife of almost 30 years, Sandra Osterhoudt Penn; children, Michelle (Tom) Jeffalone of Mechanicville and David (Kimberly) Daigneault of No. Carolina; grandchildren, Shaun Welden, Brian Buckmiller, Jordyn Jeffalone, Joshua, David and Dale Daigneault, along with three great-grandchildren, Jayla, Jake and Sydney; and a brother, George (Linda) Penn of Virginia. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville.
