Smith, Jane K. AVERILL PARK Jane K. Smith, 87, formerly of Troy, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 surrounded and in the comfort of her family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late John and Ann Lynch Kaelin and was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1944. Jane was a lung cancer survivor of over 36 years. She retired from the New York State University at Albany. She was a former communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park. Jane loved the ballet at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. She spent her last few years in the loving care of her son, Don and daughter-in-law, Bonnie, her guardian angels. Devoted mother of Donald "Don" (Benita) Smith, Melinda (Joseph) Rush, Pamela Smith and Dr. Maureen (Adam) Longworth; sister of Robert Kaelin; grandmother of Jami Jo Herrick, Jason Powell, Joe and Jennifer Rush, Katelyn and Christina Longworth; great-grandmother of Cheyenne Powell, Samuel and Tyler Herrick and Logan Rush; cherished aunt of Kim Kaelin Curtain, Pam Kaelin Radigan and Nancy Kaelin Cole; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., (Corner of 115th St. and Fourth Avenue) in Lansingburgh, thence to St. Augustine's Church, Lansingburgh, where at 11 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy. Her family would like to extend their special thanks to the Eddy Visiting Nurses and to Community Hospice of Rensselaer. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.
