Hutchison, Fred SCOTIA Fred L. Hutchison, age 91, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Mr. Hutchison was retired from the American International Insurance Group and prior to that he had been employed by the Unigard Insurance Co. Mr. Hutchison was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942-45. Thereafter, he attended college on the G.I. Bill, and graduated from the former Rutland Junior College in Rutland, Vt. and Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill.. He was born in New Haven, Conn. and following marriage in 1950 to Elva Rose he lived with his wife and family in the Dayton, Ohio area and then relocated to Scotia in 1965. Following his retirement in in 1994 he did volunteer work at SPARC in Guilderland and at the Schenectady City Mission. Other volunteer groups include Recovery Inc., New Hope in Colonie and prison visitations. In addition to his wife he is also survived by his sons, Fred J. of Schenectady, Stephen of Scotia, Jim (Cheryl) of Argyle and John (Amy) of Glenville; his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Lindsey Burroughs (Matt), J. David and Gregory Hutchison. The family will receive visitors at The White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave. Scotia on Friday, May 9, 2014 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Private interment will be in Cooksboro Cemetery, Troy. Funeral services will be at New Life Ministries, 148 Clinton St. Schenectady, NY 12305 at a date and time to be announced on the funeral home website, Online condolences can also be left on the website.
