Obituary Condolences

Janice C. Wickham Obituary
Wickham, Janice C. ALBANY Janice Claire Wickham, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Worcester, Mass., to the late John C. and Claire L. Kasabula. Janice received her associate's degree from Becker College. She worked for 37 years at Albany Memorial Hospital, as the assistant director of medical records. Janice was an avid NASCAR and Yankees fan but her favorite thing to do was to attend her grandchildren's sporting, musical and Scouting events. Her grandchildren meant the world to her! She took great pride in her families' commitment to local volunteer fire services. She never missed a firefighters dress parade and convention. She also looked forward to her Wednesday "girls night out" with some special girlfriends, as recent as Wednesday, May 7, 2014 (when the girls came to her). The family will remember this past Mother's Day weekend. Janice was able to spend some very special time with all of her children, grandchildren and niece/god-daughter, Janice. She was a communicant of Christ Our Light Church for more than 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her longtime companion of more than 30 years, Jon Wills. Janice is survived by her beloved children, Frank (Nancy) Wickham, Diane (Carl) Niemann and Jean (Phil) D'Angelo. She is the cherished grandmother of Katy Wickham, Patrick (Megan) Wickham, Linda (Bill) Yates, Michael and Alexander Niemann and Andrew and Ben Cerone, and the adored "GG" of Willi Yates. She is the sister of Jack Kasabula, dear friend of Laura Prince. She is also survived by her special caregivers, Sandra, Laurie, Trish, Kathy and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Nancy Wickham, for caring for Janice as though she were her own mother. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, BSA Troop 77, c/o Midway Fire Department 1956 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12205 in Janice's memory. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 9 a.m., at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, then to Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass in Memory Gardens, Colonie. To leave a special message for the family online, visit newcomeralbany.com.
