Donald R. MacCabe Obituary
MacCabe, Donald R. COLONIE Donald R. MacCabe, 82, of Colonie passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. He was born in Albany and graduated from Albany High School. Don attended HVCC and Siena College. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer class USS Dickson during the Korean Conflict. Don worked as a draftsman for the New York State Department of Transportation for more than 30 years. He spent the early years of his retirement traveling the country in an RV, with an affinity for Texas. Don was interested in military history, especially the U.S. Civil War. He was predeceased by his parents, Robinson and Jean Blair MacCabe; his brother George and his half-brother Mason MacCabe, who died in World War II. Don is survived by his wife, Frances Trossbach MacCabe; his children, Kathleen (Mark) Sterling, Michael and Joseph MacCabe. He is the grandfather of Joshua and Matthew Sterling. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m., at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will be in Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Donald R. MacCabe.
