Christiana, Benedict G. SELKIRK Benedict G. Christiana, 82, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Stratton V.A. Medical Center in Albany. Benny was born and lived most of his life in the Ravena area. He graduated from St. Patrick's School in Ravena and Cathedral High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, who served during the Korean War. Benny retired after driving trucks for Smith Transport in Latham for many years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 294, a member and past president of Selkirk Fire Company 1, and belonged to American Legion Blanchard Post 1040. Survivors include his loving wife, Micheline Christiana; daughters, Karen Christiana, Valerie Borger, Sandra Pritchard and Julie Corbett-Leon; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Sister Mary Benedict; and several nieces and nephews. Benny was predeceased by his parents, Ceasar and Theresa Christiana; sisters, Conchetta Diacetis, Madeline Guido and Nickelina Downey; and his brothers, Anthony and Patrick B. Christiana. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Coeymans. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Benedict may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 21 Main St., Ravena, NY 12143.
