Bailey, Gladys C. WESTERLO Gladys Carr Bailey, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2014. Gladys was born in Coxsackie, daughter of the late Rachel and Arthur Carr. She was predeceased by her husband Douglas and her sister Esther Bailey. Survivors include her children, Sylvia Bailey of Ithaca and George Bailey of Westerlo; sister, Ruth Tompkins of Greenville; special nieces and nephews, Jacklyn Spring, Paula Purcell, William and Martin Bailey; and many other nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Gladys was a member or had been a member of many organizations including, the Reformed Church of Westerlo, Ravena Congregational Christian Church, the Auxiliary of Post 114 American Legion, Berne Seniors, Rensselaerville Seniors, Dusty Travelers, Helderberg Hilltoppers, N.C.H.A. and the Ravena Fire Company Auxiliary. Gladys was a beautician who ran her own shop in Ravena for many years. She had a great appetite for life. She loved her large extended family and her many friends. Gladys and her late husband traveled most of North America in a travel-trailer. In later years, she enjoyed many bus trips. Besides travel she liked dining out, playing cards, parades and fireworks. The family is especially grateful to Dr. Myria Emeny who has been our anchor and our buoy. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Interment will follow in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Dr. Anna Perkins Healthcare Center, PO Box 1, Westerlo, NY 12193
