Palangi, Philomena Mary Cioffi WYNANTSKILL Philomena Mary Cioffi Palangi, 89, entered eternal rest on June 14, 2014. Philomena was born on August 13, 1924, in Troy. She was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Luigia Cioffi. Philomena was born and raised in Troy and lived her later years in Wynantskill. Mrs. Palangi was predeceased by her beloved husband Dominick, whom she wed on October 20, 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Palangi enjoyed 42 years of marriage together. In 1946, Mr. and Mrs. Palangi established the East Side Soda and Bottling Company. They distributed homemade soda throughout Troy. The East Side Soda and Bottling Company expanded into the Crystal Spring Water & Soda Company, which was owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Palangi. They distributed water and soda throughout the Capital District. Mrs. Palangi became known as the "Water Lady," and her husband as the "Soda Man," names they were both proud to carry. They retired from operating their business in 1986. In addition to working alongside her husband, Philomena loved being a mother to her two children, cooking Italian cuisine and dancing. Mrs. Palangi is survived by her daughter, Victoria Loatman; son-in-law, Edmund Loatman, and son, Frederick Palangi. She is the beloved grandmother of Christina Loatman, Matthew Loatman, and Richard Loatman. Mrs. Palangi was honored to be the great- grandmother of Chelsea Loatman, Kathryn Loatman, Samuel Loatman, and Benjamin Loatman. The funeral service for Mrs. Palangi will held on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 9 a.m., at the Bocketti Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy, and at 9:30 a.m., at St. Anthony of Padua Church, State Street, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mario Julian, OFM, pastor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 to 9 a.m. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
