Gregware, Norman T. TROY Norman T. Gregware, 68, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at home following a long illness. Born and raised in Troy, Norman was the son of the late Edward and Cornelia E. Christie Gregware. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. For three years he was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in May 1967, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. Norman was a resident of the area for most of his life and was most recently employed as a computer technician. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and also enjoyed playing pool. Norman was the father of Jon (Kelly) Gregware of Poestenkill, Erik T. Gregware of Troy and Kathryn Dorsey of Michigan; grandfather of Zachary and Jeremy; brother of James R. (Malcolm) Gregware of California, and the late Michael J., John T. and Edward W. Gregware; nephew of Mrs. Ruth Brothers; uncle of Aaron Gregware of Cohoes. Norman's family offers a heartfelt thank you to Kim for the special care she gave to Norman during his illness and also to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for all of their assistance. Friends are invited to attend a service for Norman which will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Interment, with military honors, will follow at 12:30 p.m., in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. There will be no public visiting hours. The family suggests that a donation to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 will not only honor Norman's memory, but will also help to recognize the wonderful care and support given to Norman and his family.
