Carroll, Henry Kinsella TOPSFIELD, Mass. Mr. Henry Kinsella Carroll, 87, beloved husband of the late Gertrude (McNally) Carroll, died July 20, 2014 at Masconomet Nursing and Rehab in Topsfield. Born in Rutland, Vt., he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Grimes) Carroll. He was raised and educated in Rutland and was a graduate of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (now known as Missouri University). He was a civil engineer for the New York State Department of Transportation retiring in 1988. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army. Mr. Carroll had resided in Schodack from 1960 to 2010. He was an avid golfer who loved spending time with his family. His golfing prowess was legendary having been the Vermont State Amateur Champion in 1950. Henry is survived by his daughters, Lynne Girdzis and her husband Timothy of Manchester, Vt., Sandra Drohosky and her husband Stephen of Boxford, Mass. and Lisa Remler and her husband Sean of Verona, N.J.; his six grandchildren, Jonathan and Gretchen Girdzis, Lauren and Kate Drohosky and Caitlin and Sara Remler. He was the brother of the late Mary, Margaret, Patty, Joe, James, Charlie and Richard Carroll. Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial Mass which will be held in the Church of the Holy Spirit, 667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush on Friday, August 8 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in Henry's memory to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis , TN, 38105.
