Walsh, Philip J. HALFMOON Philip J. Walsh, 81, of Halfmoon died on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at a son's home, following a short illness. Born in Troy on June 13, 1933, son of the late Philip H. and Jane Montgomery Walsh, Phil graduated from Mechanicville High School, and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving as an aviation electrician. He worked for many years at the former Westvaco plant in Mechanicville until closing in 1971. He briefly worked at Galante Paper Mill, until working for the Shenendehowa school district and rising to the position of head of maintenance. Phil loved to play golf with his family and good friends, lastly at Windy Hill Golf Club, was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed visiting the racino and horseracing. Most of all, Phil enjoyed the love and company of his family. His wife of 54 years, Lois Sloan Walsh, died in 2013. He was also predeceased by his sister, Maureen Patenaude. Survivors include his sons, Pastor John and wife Chassidy of Valatie, David and wife Susan of Ballston Lake, Philip Jr. and wife Mary of Halfmoon and Bill and wife Sharon of Atlanta, also his daughter, Madelyn Walsh of Latham, 17 grand and six great-grandchildren. Also a brother, Michael (Vivian) Walsh of Mechanicville and sisters Majiel (Ralph) Costanzo of Michigan and Susan (Leo) Lichtig of Latham, along with nieces, nephews and their families. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014, at 7 p.m., at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicville. Calling hours at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, 103 Patroon Drive, Guilderland, NY 12084, in memory of Philip J.
