Madden, Matthew TROY Matthew V. Madden, 31, of Troy died on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy embraced by his loving family. Born in Hampton, Va., he was the son of John V. and Christina L. Ober Madden of Cohoes. Matthew was an outstanding young man with an infectious smile, who loved his family very much. He had fun with his parents cheering on the Valley Cats where he sat behind first base; he was their number one fan. Matthew enjoyed all kinds of trains and he especially liked ice cream. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his devoted sister and her husband, Katherine L. and Adam Sokolnicki of Chelmsford, Mass.; aunt, Lisa King; uncle, Eric (Janet) Ober; and cousins, Brandon King and Ian (Michelle) and Justin Ober. Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd, Cohoes on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be from Church of the Holy Trinity in Cohoes Tuesday at 9 a.m. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 p.m. Those wishing to remember Matthew in a special way may make memorial contributions to Mowat-Wilson Syndrome Foundation, 4009 Tyler William Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89130. Matthew's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at his group home in Troy for the exceptional and loving care of Matthew over the several past years.
