Miller, William B. GUILDERLAND William B. Miller, 79, of Guilderland died peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at home after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Miller, born in Ilion, was the son of the late Anne and Ralph Miller of Albany and Northville and lived in Albany and Guilderland most of his life. Husband for 61 years to Carol Ann Dougherty Miller; father of Stephen Miller and his wife Deborah Miller of Pickerington, Ohio, David Miller and his wife Bridget Terry of Alameda, Calif., Robert Miller of Pleasant Ridge, Mich., Susan Lary and her husband Kevin Lary of St. Clair Shores, Mich., Mark Miller of Albany, and Michael Miller and his wife Adriane Miller of Yellow Springs, Ohio; grandfather of Stephanie Clark and her husband Chuck Clark of Pickerington, Jennifer Miller of Pickerington, Tasha Williams and Keatan Lary of St. Clair Shores, Healy Miller of Alameda, and Lake and Skyler Miller of Yellow Springs. Bill graduated from Vincentian High School in 1952. He was drafted in 1956, completed Basic Training at Fort Benning, Ga., Intelligence School at Dundalk, Md., and served at Fort Dix, N.J. He later purchased the family business, Ralph's Tavern on Madison Avenue and ran it for more than 40 years, owned and operated the Village Drummer Tavern in Guilderland, and was a member of Albany Liquor Association, serving as treasurer. Bill was an avid golfer, enjoying his weekly Thursday matches with friends for more than 40 years, and rarely missed watching the Yankees at the Stadium or on TV. Bill and his wife spent their winters in Stuart, Fla., and took numerous vacations to Hawaii. Funeral services, 11 a.m., on Friday, August 1, 2014, at Christ the King Church, Westmere, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
